Disney Trip 2013 - Day 3, Part 1

I stopped making notes this morning, so the photos are going to have to guide me now.  My last entry was:
OMG it was good (plus the one I had didn't have all that crap on top)
Bay Lake Sunrise:  4 Orange Vodka, Midori Melon Liqueur, and Sweet-and-Sour with a splash of Sprite.

We had breakfast in our hotel at The Wave... of American Flavors (actual full name).  Sweet potato pancakes with pecan honey butter, cheddar cheese grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit.  Delicious.
... of American Flavors.  Don't forget the ... of American Flavors.
Must see a g-g-ghost!  "Ruh-roh, Raggy!"
After breakfast we went to Epcot where we met our friend Jackie who lives in Orlando.  It's always a treat to be able to spend time with her when we go to Florida.

Spaceship Earth in the evening.  For those that have never been:  there's a ride inside that slowly spirals up to the top as animatronics take you through a tour of human history.  Then as you spiral back down you make selections on what kind of future you'd like to see, and get to star in your own cartoon adventure based on your choices.
We'll be back at Epcot later in the week.  For today though, Todd and I left at 6pm to go back to the hotel.  We wanted a quick rest before we headed over to the Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.
Here we are

The Very Merry Christmas Party is a separate ticket event that costs about $70 per person.  Why is it worth it?  They limit ticket sales to approx. 20,000 people and close the park from 7pm to midnight to other guests.  Almost all attractions are open which means no waiting in lines.  In addition there are special Christmas parades, shows and fireworks just for those in attendance.  Also...well, we'll talk about that in a minute when you get to the candy cane photo.
The castle is decked out in icicles
Start drooling anytime you see one of these inflatable lit-up candy canes which are spread around the park, because that means...
Someone is waiting nearby to give you sugar cookies and hot chocolate.  As much as you want, all night long.  And they were very good.
We didn't want to be there right at 7pm as the crowds were entering and leaving the park, so we relaxed in the hotel, then walked over at 8pm.  We rode Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad twice in a row, Splash Mountain, the new Little Mermaid ride: Under the Sea - Journey of The Little Mermaid, The Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan's Flight, watched part of the totally Tomorrowland Christmas show with Buzz Lightyear, walked through the new Fantasyland area, peeked through a hole in the construction fence around the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster and saw them test-running the trains on the tracks, explored the new Storybook Circus area, and stopped for cookies and cocoa a few times.  At a very relaxed pace we were able to do more in an hour and a half than we could have all day during normal operations.  We had a great time.
